Recens

A Modern Lament:

I want wit in my wordplay—

the sharp-cutting directness of a
Shakespearean barbed jibe, and the
debauched baseness of a broken sparrow.
I want debate and liveliness and scholastic
wooing with spirited seriousness and an
underlying sincerity of playful emotion.

I want it all.

I want artful posturing and deep seated realness.

I want life, love, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
with a man completely lovable in his intelligence and
willingness to get down with me in the dirt.

I want a babe in my belly and a ring on my finger--
knowing that All is Well that Ends Well.

I can't give you the babe or the ring, but I can help with the wordplay (it's one of my fetishes!). By the way, yours is fantastic!

Speaking of words, why do you call this a "lament"? Your desires here are something to celebrate. Poetry and low, dirty sex is a very good combination--like a barber's chair that fits all buttocks, as they say.

Thanks :-) This is one of my better poems.. I'm looking at a collection I put together a while back and cringing lol.

I originally wrote this one a few months ago and merely tweaked it a bit when I posted last night. When I wrote it I was extremely frustrated by interacting with men who simply would not talk, let alone indulge in wordplay with me. I was "lamenting" that I couldn't find what I needed... lol
